Here she is, at left, all dressed up at Mystic Seaport in 2004 for the Sparkman & Stephens' 75th Anniversary as representative for the Dolphin 24 Class. The minimum bid was $2000 and no one bid for her. After 10 years on the hard in a small nearby marina, she had been donated for the Museum’s annual fund raising Thanksgiving auction. I bought Marionette in 1995 from the Connecticut River Museum in Essex, Connecticut. The following photos mark her successful journey. Marionette left Niantic Bay YC and sailed up the CT River into Hamburg Cove where she was welcomed by the Cove Landing marine staff and where she has many times launched and hauled. Thanks for getting this story out to our friends We'll standby to hear from Bill in coming days. He plans to keep Marionette for the rest of this season at Niantic Bay YC where she's enjoyed her same slip for those 27 years. The new owner is Bill Webb who lives in neighboring Old Saybrook. Entering my eighties has made solo sailing up in Maine problematic (I blame John Rousmaniere and his article Farewell to the Gulf Stream for bringing this matter to my attention) - and the search for her new caretaker has been tough, but rewarding My wife and I sold our house of 44 years in Old Lyme, Connecticut and moved to a senior living facility named Essex Meadows in Essex across the CT River from Old Lyme, where incidently, I bought Marionette 27 years ago at the CT River Museum.
